Mara Jade was born 17 years before the battle of Yavin (17 BBY) to unknown parents.
She was taken from her family as a toddler, and was raised as Emperor Palpatine's servant, and was thence trained as an assassin. Loyal to the Emperor, she was named the Emperor's Hand.
As the Emperor's Hand, Mara was assigned to do the Emperor's dirty work, as well as Darth Vader's. Though the latter, she lacked trust in, and wished to replace as the Emperor's apprentice.
However, Mara's life as she knew it was cut short. In 4 ABY, the Emperor died. Mara blamed a young Rebel by the name of Luke Skywalke, whom the Emperor had assigned her to hunt down and kill.
Taking it upon herself, she vowed to find Skywalker and kill him. Fueled by her hatred for him, she searched for years, going rogue and destroying those in her way. On the way, however, she met a chief smuggler by the name of Talon Karrde. Eventually, she joined him and became his second in command.
Now, she is still searching for Skywalker.
